Bound By Law?

April 4th, 2006 / 0 Comments

Bound By Law? Is a comic book about copyright, fair use, and documentary film produced by Duke Law’s Center for the Study of the Public Domain. The center needed some posters created to promote the comic to filmmakers at the Full Frame Documentary Film Festival.

[The] posters are simply brilliant. They aren’t just well designed, though they are that — elegantly so. Your format, your choices of which comic strip to feature, and your incorporation of our core message in a few well chosen thumbnails are all quite superb. Thanks for doing a really, really brilliant job. … you have all also shown a real grasp of what we are trying to accomplish in a way that is really both magnificent and flattering.
Professor, and CSPD co-founder James Boyle

The simplicity of the large dark background highlights the black and white illustrations while helping to build a sense of mystery and evoke one’s curiosity. The subtle use of yellow reinforces the cover of the comic and brings attention to the most critical pieces of information, the comic’s website and availability on amazon.com.

National politics is like the Roman circus in first century Rome. It is entertainment to keep us distracted from the real issues.
